The person is skinny, unkempt, covered with scabs, and missing a few teeth. They’re dressed in wildly inappropriate clothing for the weather. They sit at the video poker machine in a low-rent bar, staring as though it holds the secrets to the universe. Next to them, they have a neat spiral-bound notebook filled with clearly-written mathematical theorems, proofs, and calculations – and they’re winning every hand.
